In the MMO shooter Destiny , a journalist claims to have found clues about Mercury being a new planet.
Tom Phillips from Eurogamer believes he is onto something big. The occasion is the emblem, which everyone recently pulled out of their iPads with little enthusiasm. This is the emblem “Rising Light.” Phillips believes there is a hint about the future of Destiny hidden here. The emblem shows the peak of a Vex architecture on Mercury – in front of the image of a massive, nearby sun.
For Phillips, Mercury as a new location just makes sense. After all, the planet was part of the original vision of Destiny – back then Osiris, who was based there, played a much more important role. At the moment, there are only a few PvP maps and the Lighthouse in the Trials of Osiris on Mercury. But the innermost planet of our solar system is, for Phillips, a logical addition to the Destiny universe.
Mercury also played an important role in a now-deleted post on reddit. Back then, someone proposed several theses, a few of which turned out to be true, like the new voice of the Ghost and that they would stop releasing smaller DLCs.
What do you think? Is there really a hint hidden in the emblem? Or did someone let their imagination run wild and interpret too much into the small emblem? After all, some things also suggest that Destiny 2 or the next expansion could focus on Mars and the Cabal, as well as the moon Europa.
