In the MMO shooter Destiny, Bungie apologizes for an error: Changes to the Titan class were not mentioned in the patch notes for 2.4.0.
For a few days now, update 2.4.0 has been live. This prepares for the upcoming autumn expansion “The Rise of Iron”, which will be unlocked on September 20th. While this patch was deployed, Bungie published the biggest changes:
Only a few hours after these changes could be tested by the community, clever Guardians discovered: Wow, the specified changes are not everything! In addition, several issues are occurring, which Bungie is currently working on. A list with many new features and problems after 2.4.0 can be found here. Now, however, massive nerfs were found that definitely should have been included in the patch notes.
Shoulder charge and Type 44 Stand Asides have been nerfed
Yesterday, a user opened a thread on reddit asking why nobody is talking about the massive changes affecting the Titan class. He referred to the shoulder charge of the Striker subclass, which is slower and takes longer to charge. Some users responded that it was just a figment of imagination, while others reported similar experiences. Now Bungie has commented on it.
In the Bungie forum, the community manager Cozmo spoke out a few hours ago. With the introduction that it is always complicated to make changes to a live game, he admits:
Yes, there were intended changes that accidentally did not make it into the patch notes of 2.4.0. These changes affect the shoulder charge and the exotic leg armor Type 44 Stand Asides.
- The time to charge the shoulder charge has been increased by one second.
- The attack rate and target tracking of the shoulder charge have been slightly reduced.
- The active time of the shoulder charge when using Type 44 Stand Asides has been significantly reduced by 4 seconds.
According to the sandbox team, these changes were made because shoulder charge in combination with the Jolder artifact was too powerful. They speak of an “overly deadly combination” that needed to be adjusted.
Additionally, it is stated that the sandbox team would never intentionally include “secret nerfs”. Because the community would find them out quickly anyway, it would be ridiculous. In this case, they simply forgot to include the “patchnotes” tag. They admit it was a mistake on their part.
Next Monday, the list of patch notes will be revised. There they will also include the changes to the weaponsmith Banshee-44.
