Yesterday, a live stream took place for Destiny as a reveal event for “The Taken King.” Two pieces of information were forgotten and provided later.
The live stream lasted 55 minutes yesterday, where Bungie developers talked about Year Two in Destiny (we reported). Apparently, in the excitement, they forgot two pieces of information, which Game Director Luke Smith later provided via Twitter.
- For one, they did not show the “artifacts,” although they actually intended to. Artifacts are a new type of gear. You will only be able to wear them at level 40, the maximum level. The artifacts are supposed to be shown in the next stream.
- On the other hand, Smith revealed that Light particles can be used to level up weapons. So probably to upgrade them, unlocking individual upgrade nodes.
Further information from Smith that he wanted to clarify:
- There is no cap on the new currency, the legendary marks. No restriction on how many of them you can earn in a week. At the same time, you can only “hold” 200, then you have to spend them.
- Players can simultaneously earn Crucible/Strikes reputation AND reputation for one of the three factions (Dead Orbit, New Monarchy, Future War Cult).
- Only legendary weapons and armor from Year 2 can be dismantled into legendary marks; legendary items from Year 1 in Destiny yield the same materials as now when dismantled.
Among Destiny fans, the big discussions, 15 hours after the end of the stream, still revolve around the exotic weapons and armor. Which ones will make it from Year 1 to Year 2 and what will happen to the rest? How high will they be able to upgrade, will they still be useful?
And the images of swords that were seen in the stream, which were not addressed, continue to create a small sword hype. There is already discussion about whether this will be a “real new weapon category” or like with pistols, one with only very few items. Whether this will be a heavy weapon, as it works in the game with ammunition and much more … Officially, nothing is known yet. Bungie has not yet mentioned the word “sword.”
