In Destiny, the exotic weapon Khvostov 7G-0X comes into play with “Rise of Iron.” We will take a closer look at it.
Bungie has once again pulled a surprise out of the hat: To introduce even more nostalgia with “The Dawning of the Iron Lords,” the very first weapon in the game is returning – in a pimped version: The Khvostov.
The Khvostov, an automatic rifle, was the first weapon that Guardians picked up in Bungie’s MMO shooter to fend off enemies. It was with this weapon that they had their first experiences in the game. The grandiose gunplay was first experienced with the Khvostov.
According to Bungie, the love for this weapon grew steadily within the community. Some players asked in the forums whether this automatic rifle would ever come back. Some Guardians even reported that they still keep the Khvostov well stored in the vault, even though it has long been practically useless.
With “Rise of Iron,” it is now returning – in a significantly improved, exotic version!
How to get the new Khvostov
You will receive the Khvostov 7G-0X in “Rise of Iron” by completing a chain of quests. These missions are intended to take you – yes, for nostalgia’s sake – back to the starting areas of Destiny, where all your journeys began.
Similar to the Sleeper Simulant, you need to find weapon parts for the exotic Khvostov 7G-0X while exploring the Plaguelands. You will find these parts randomly in chests or as random rewards in the new “Archon’s Forge” arena.
According to Gameinformer, you only need one weapon part, which you hand over to a quest giver, to trigger a series of “events.” Ultimately, there is a new mission at the end of which you will acquire the upgraded Khvostov. Alternatively, you can also supposedly dismantle your old Khvostov, if you still have it, in order to obtain the required weapon parts.
The unique versatility of the Khvostov 7G-0X
Aesthetically, the exotic weapon will look very similar to the old Khvostov. It has just been polished a bit, so it shines in brand-new look. Additionally, it has received a brand-new barrel. Furthermore, you can choose between a new scope and the old scope. For those who remember: The old, classic “Scope” was broken. Bungie thought it would be a funny idea to also be able to play with the original.
What is special about the Khvostov 7G-0X is: You can adjust the firing mode as you like, transforming the weapon into a pulse rifle, a scout rifle, or an automatic rifle. However, it cannot mimic the characteristics of a hand cannon.
The Khvostov 7G-0X is supposed to be a weapon for all occasions, which is why the other perks allow for numerous adjustments. Gameinformer estimates that there are more than 100 different configurations possible for this Exotic.

Scope
- Classic Scope: Increases range and stability.
- Modernized Scope: Additional zoom and improved target acquisition.
Firing Mode
- Automatic
- Burst Fire
- Semi-Automatic
Additionally:
- Hammer Forged: Increased range and precision.
- Rifled Barrel: Increased range, slower reload.
- Reinforced Frame: Increased stability, reduced magazine size.
Extras:
- Extended Magazine.
- Balance Adjustment: Stability is greatly increased.
- Snapshot: Aiming this weapon increases its effective range.
Rate of Fire (RPM)
- 450 RPM: Grants additional range bonus.
- 900 RPM: Grants additional stability bonus.
The last perk column on the right represents the ornaments. No further details are known about the ornaments of the Khvostov yet. However, you will be able to change the look of the weapon with them.
By the way: The Khvostov 7G-0X is also a lightweight weapon. This means you get a +2 boost to your agility.
