The Hunter in Destiny has received new exotic gloves, Khepri’s Sting, with House of Wolves. How do they work? How are they suitable for PvE and PvP?
Three new exotics were available for each class with House of Wolves. For the Hunter, we have already introduced the Heavenly Night Hawk already. This week, Xur is selling the gloves “Khepri’s Sting.” Time to see what they can do.
The Perks – Toxic Touch has hidden poison damage
Primary Weapon Loader – Faster reload speed for primary weapons
Empowerment – Reduces melee cooldown when a Light Sphere is picked up
Toxic Touch: When crouching, you become invisible for a short time. If you attack an enemy from behind in melee – they receive four times the damage. Additionally, this attack leaves a poison effect, even when coming from the front, that deals low damage, but over a long time.
The Concept behind the Gloves: Melee Sneaker
The gloves are suitable for both the Gunslinger and the Blade Dancer. However, the synergies are significantly higher for the Blade Dancer. The Gunslinger can take some of the stealth and melee capabilities of the Blade Dancer into their skill mix.
The Blade Dancer benefits from free skill points and can further enhance melee capabilities.
In a video, Nexxos presents you with the possibilities of combining “Khepri’s Sting” effectively with the traits of the Blade Dancer to extend invisibility, increase melee damage, and surprise and eliminate two opponents (although this doesn’t always work).
Is Khepri’s Sting Worth It for PvE and PvP in Destiny?
Khepri’s Sting clearly requires a very specific playstyle: the gloves are meant for those who enjoy melee combat, sneaking up on opponents, and taking them down from behind. True to the old WoW motto: Rogues do it from behind.
This makes the gloves a risky venture, especially in PvP. You must adjust your playstyle and aim to surprise opponents individually; they are vulnerable to counters. In PvP, they are probably more suited for experts who excel in positioning and are looking for a different playstyle than shotgun and go.
In PvE, especially for the Blade Dancer, they can perform quite well. The skill tree of the Blade Dancer is well-suited to deal Khepri’s Sting damage to the opponent and encourages creative builds.
It’s likely that Khepri’s Sting is not a mandatory purchase; the melee style does not suit everyone. However, if you often go up close and see yourself as “Death from the Shadows,” you can find joy in Khepri’s Sting. The exotic armor pieces in Destiny ultimately allow you to explore variations of your class and provide variety and enjoyment in gameplay.
