There are no more sandbox updates on the horizon for the MMO shooter Destiny. The current meta remains.
The community manager DeeJ talks about an important aspect of Destiny: The feedback from the community.
Over the years, the dialogue with players has helped developers find out what is on the minds of the Guardians. What they wish for the future.
They have also followed conversations about how Destiny could evolve next even after the Age of Triumph. Many Guardians have asked, whether the sandbox will be revised again. DeeJ now gives an answer.
Now the focus is on Destiny 2
The Age of Triumph has always been advertised as the last content update for Destiny. However, it not only brought the last game content but also, presumably, the last balance update. According to DeeJ, the sole focus is currently on Destiny 2. There will be no changes to the sandbox and meta of Destiny in the foreseeable future.
All hands at Bungie are busy making Destiny 2 the sequel that the community deserves. In summer, the beta is coming up, which requires your bug reports. In autumn, a completely new cycle of updates for a brand new game will begin. Bungie expects Destiny 2 to be the best answer to all that feedback from the community.
In the end, DeeJ thanks everyone for all the conversations and hopes that you will feel how much the feedback meant to Bungie when you can play Destiny 2 for the first time.
In short: Bungie is now only looking forward to Destiny 2. The “currently” in the statement, that the sole focus currently is on Destiny 2, does leave some room that at some point in the future, a sandbox update for Destiny 1 might still come, but we do not expect that anymore.
Destiny 1 will remain playable after the launch of the sequel, but only for a “foreseeable” period of time.
The Palindrome remains on the throne
So nothing will change in the current meta that has prevailed in PvP since early 2017.
- The top weapon in the primary slot remains the Palindrome, followed by the Eyasluna, the MIDA Multi-Tool, and the No Land Beyond
- In the secondary slot, the pistols surrounding the Cursed and the sniper rifles – especially the Icebreaker – still dominate
- In the heavy weapon slot, the Silver Dread stands out
