In the MMO shooter Destiny there is new information about the exotic weapons and armor from the first year of Destiny.
Hot topic: “What will happen to the exotic weapons and armor from the first year of The Taken King?” Last week, there was information: All the exotic items that have been collected will go into a collection. They will be available as blueprints and can later be replicated. But only some exotic items will receive a “Year 2” version at the new level. Other weapons and armor will remain at their old level, which is significantly weaker.
The weapons and armor would then be “no longer relevant”, would be outdated, and would hardly play a role in the daily life of Destiny.
It is now known what some have already suspected. In a print article from the gaming magazine “Edge”, it is stated, that the “other exotic items from Year 1” are gradually expected to receive Year 2 editions as well. This is consistently reported by some online sources.
Currently, there is no further information on the topic. We do not know when the remaining weapons will come, whether for DLCs, or if they will follow another schedule in Destiny, nor do we know which weapons and armor are affected or if “all exotic items” will actually come. At Planetdestiny, it is suspected that very powerful items from Year 1 will then come in a slightly toned-down Year 2 version as Bungie does not want to have overly strong items anymore.
Pieces of the puzzle fit together, slowly everything makes sense
But this new information now clarifies some questions. The “blueprint” collection now seems truly sensible and necessary. Players can confidently dismantle their Year 1 items after September 15 (not before!) knowing that the blueprint is saved. They will then be able to obtain new Year 2 editions of the Year 1 items when they are unlocked by Bungie.
It is also now clear, why Bungie weakens or strengthens exotic weapons, which likely will not receive a Year 2 edition at the beginning of “The Taken King”.
For Bungie, this is of course an interesting option, also to keep interest in the game alive. They now have numerous pieces of armor and weapons that players already know and have built a relationship with, in reserve, and can bring them into the game unexpectedly. It will be interesting to see in what form they do this, whether they save them for DLCs or just release them.
Sure is the arrival of Xur, which is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, August 28. We will report on it.
