In the MMO shooter Destiny , legends surround the exotic weapon “The Fate of All Fools.” Is it currently obtainable in Destiny?
The Phantom Rifle
“The Fate of All Fools”, the Fate of All Fools, is an exotic scout rifle that has been circulating through Destiny’s database for a long time – just like the PvP event “Trials of Osiris.” Data miners discovered it months ago in the database, long before the first player was supposed to try it out. For a long time, players thought: Trials of Osiris and The Fate of All Fools go together. But for a long time, neither could be seen.
A while ago, there actually was the first and so far only “Fate of All Fools” in Destiny. Bungie gifted it to a player, because they were moved by his tragic illness story.
For players, it has since been clear: The rifle is already programmed, it works, it can only be a matter of time before it goes live. It would be too much of a shame not to use it. However, in the first expansion “Darkness Awaits”: No trace of the scout rifle.
Is it related to the Trials of Osiris?
Ahead of the current expansion “House of Wolves”, The Fate of All Fools appeared again in Destiny’s database. With “Trials of Osiris” now available, many seemed to think it was likely that the scout rifle would finally be introduced.
Most assumed it would again be related to the Trials of Osiris, especially since Bungie had made a secret about a ninth victory in the Trials. Thus, the idea arose: The scout rifle might be the “secret reward” for a flawless 9-0 run, and pro Crucible gamers would get it handed to them on Mercury.
However, in the first promo images for the game, only three weapons were ever shown: None of them being the coveted unique item. And when the first players reached Mercury last Friday, they faced mild disappointment again: No trace of the weapon.
As it often is with Destiny: Rumors arise, with people swearing they heard it straight from Bungie themselves. They say, if one gets to Mercury after about 5 weeks, the weapon might drop. Or they claim: Yes, that is a rare reward, but I know someone who knows someone who has already obtained it!
It is official: Not yet available in Destiny
Now, there has been an official response from Bungie, and it is quite sobering: The Fate of All Fools is currently not available in Destiny.
And what about the 347 Vesta Dynasty?
There is still no trace of a second exotic scout rifle, the 347 Vesta Dynasty. Bungie has not commented on this yet. However, most assume that the scout rifle 347 Vesta Dynasty became the legendary pistol “Vestian Dynasty”.
It looks like there will be three new exotic weapons, those from the new loot chase. While the real mystery seekers should not be deterred by that. As is known, some still search for the sixth chest in the Glass Chamber.
