Destiny: How to get the Icebreaker in Year 3 – Here’s what it can do

The Icebreaker was considered a form of “Boss-killer” and was also used in some legendary glitches, where snipers found the most absurd positions to shoot at the boss without moving away. Now it is set to return.

How to get the new Icebreaker in Destiny?

The Icebreaker in Destiny is tied to new bounties from Zhavala. These, in turn, are related to the “Strike Scoring” system that is also new to Destiny.

Zhavala will issue bounties for which you have to do certain things in strikes: likely, Guardians need to reach certain scores and meet conditions. Completing weekly Nightfall strike loot runs has a chance to reward the Icebreaker. So, no “guaranteed reward”, but one with a certain probability.

But anyone who is often in strikes will probably receive the Icebreaker sooner or later.

The new Icebreaker – What can it do?

Icebreaker will be a Solar sniper rifle.

The video reveals the special, new perks:

• No Backpack – Icebreaker cannot be reloaded, regenerates ammunition over time. In the past, one round was available every 5 seconds, which was later nerfed to “every 8 seconds”; according to the latest observations, it is now said to be “every 6 seconds”, a user on reddit claims – so it would be buffed again if that is how it goes live in Destiny.
• Icebreaker: There is a chance that hit enemies will spontaneously ignite and also damage others around them.

Besides the change in ammunition regeneration, it seems that nothing else has changed at first glance in the other values and perks. The Icebreaker has, it appears, the same values and perks it has always had.
