In the MMO shooter Destiny a new boss of the Hive appeared this week in the Prison of Elders, Gulrot, the Unclean. Here are his abilities and how to defeat him.
There are a handful of changing challenges in the Prison of Elders in Destiny. It is always the case that the 34 version from the previous week becomes the new 32 version. This week, the Guardians deal with the Worm Cult in the 34 version. At the end awaits the boss Gulrot, the Unclean. This is an ogre like Phogoth. Therefore, the critical spot where he takes more damage is also the belly, not the head.
Gulrot is not a huge challenge like Kaliks was last week. The hardest was probably Qodron, the Vex boss, and he has since been nerfed.
This is how Gulrot, the Unclean in Destiny works
The “standard tactic” for Gulrot that has emerged is for Guardians to move to the left side of the room and fire at the boss and kill adds.
There is a boss mechanic to keep in mind. It is announced via the text message “Gulrot’s stomach is gurgling and bubbling” – the announcement is white. When the ability actually comes, it reads in red text “Gulrot burps and covers the room with bile.” Gulrot has an ability that “snare” players, meaning it roots them in place where they currently are. Then Gulrot hits the Guardians with an eye laser.
When the text message comes, Guardians should quickly bring something between themselves and Gulrot. While they will be slowed down, they cannot dodge it, but they are out of the eye laser’s range. It is also a good idea to eliminate the witches, which are particularly hard-hitting enemies nearby. Since the fight is relatively short, the active modifier Morbid can even be beneficial. This ensures that the Guardians start with stronger shields, which however do not regenerate.
Gulrot, by the way, Norwegian for carrot, can be attacked from a distance with strong weapons like Gjallarhorn or Black Hammer. He doesn’t have too many HP, so this shouldn’t be a big problem. Most videos show that the fight is over in a few minutes. It is important not to let the adds get too many and not to get a “forced port” for staying in one position. Close combat weapons against the rushing adds, as well as a Titan for additional safety help.
