The Prison of Elders in Destiny has different variants and bosses on levels 32 and 34: How to deal with the Servitor God Kaliks Reborn?
In the 5th wave of the Prison of Elders in the “Fallen” edition, Kaliks Reborn awaits the Guardians. He appears in both the 34 and the 32 editions. The modifier “Grounded” is active: This means that if Guardians take damage while in the air, it counts double. Therefore: Better not to jump.
The fight against Kaliks requires a bit of patience and discipline, not patience and time, that’s something else. The catch with this boss: Kaliks spawns certain adds, the Archons, at 100%, 75%, and 50%, absorbs them if they are not killed quickly enough and regenerates health this way. This means for the Guardians: In the fight against Kaliks, killing the “white Dregs” takes top priority, as soon as they appear, they must go. Unless one decides to choose another tactic.
The adds spawn at the very beginning once and then a second time when he is down to 75% health and a third time when he drops to 50% HP. At that time, a VIP also appears, which must be shot down. Otherwise, it’s over if he reaches all 4 checkpoints.
Neither at 75% nor at 50% do the Archons necessarily have to be defeated; Kaliks can heal himself, which makes the fight last a little longer, but nothing tragic happens.
At 50%, the fight enters the hot phase
At 50%, there are two options due to the spawn of the VIP. Either you focus on Kaliks and try to bring him from 50% to 0% in this time window he needs to consume the adds (Gjallarhorn helps with that) and then deal with the VIP.
Or you take care of the VIP, clear the adds, and then go back to Kaliks, who is back at 100%, but should have no more opportunities to regenerate. Because when he drops to 50% the second time, he does not call for adds again.
The really brutal method involves clearing the adds just once at the beginning and then going back to the entrance, pulling out the Gjallarhorns and a Bubble : And bringing Kaliks from 100% to 0%, but one needs appropriate gear for that:
All in all, this is a fight that happens quite stationarily. Most go directly to the left when they enter the arena and stay there relatively long. Shotguns are recommended for the attacking enemies and weapons with medium range for damage on Kaliks himself. Rocket launchers help, one particular rocket launcher especially. But that’s just the way it is in Destiny.
