A biting yet surprisingly benevolent Honest Trailer has emerged for Destiny. It is said to be the hottest “7 out of 10” of the year.
The Honest Trailers by Smoshgames have gained cult status on YouTube. With deep bass and cutting humor, a narrator rushes through movies and games, parodying excessive industry trailers that hype their product with an epic voice and background music. In contrast, the Honest Trailers show more how the games really are, often satirically and biting.
Surprisingly gently (at least compared to other major titles), the MMO shooter Destiny comes off. Although Smoshgames also notes that much in the game feels like it will come later in a DLC and that Bungie keeps players waiting for more, but “Border Halo-Lands of Warcraft Online” already has its appeal. Because despite all the complaining and the average reviews, so many simply couldn’t stop playing it. However, getting off lightly in an Honest Trailer still means being biting and occasionally a bit harsh: Many will surely resonate with the trailer when it comes to the loot system in Destiny, the lack of trading options, or the troll attempts of the Cryptarch.
