In the MMO shooter Destiny, a deal has been made again with an author who was previously responsible for another MMO.
On July 24, Christine “Kestrel” Thompson left after 7 years as the lead writer of Star Trek Online, the somewhat aging Free2Play MMO set in the Star Trek franchise. She did not mention a reason, only that it was time for new adventures, new worlds.
It is now clear where Thompson has ended up: She will be a Senior Writer at Bungie. With this, Destiny has secured another employee with years of MMO experience. Last year, they also recruited from Guild Wars 2. This should help maintain the new direction for the “questification” of the game content in the long term.
Even though Star Trek Online has some technical difficulties, it is considered an MMO that does many things right in terms of story and lore fidelity. This is exactly where fans have identified major weaknesses in the mammoth project Destiny since its release.
