The Notorious “Broman Livestream” for House of Wolves
For House of Wolves, the second expansion for Destiny, Bungie came up with something special. To introduce the DLC, they held live streams in which the content was played in advance.
The host DeeJ, a member of the development team and a popular streamer, showcased the content. This went well for a while until they invited the streamer “Broman”, handed the community manager DeeJ a controller, and decided to take on a pretty hefty challenge in the Prison of Elders.
Playing it live while still talking seemed to overwhelm all involved.
DeeJ kept dying and didn’t play very well. Broman was overly enthusiastic and loud. The developer stood by observing.
There’s a legendary compilation of the entire livestream, showcasing the looks DeeJ gives the streamer.

Today, one might chuckle at it. Back then, many considered the stream a disaster.
Since that evening, Bungie’s livestreams have remained “internal” and DeeJ has not touched a controller in front of the camera again, unless he is walking around the Tower. We probably won’t see anything like that in Destiny 2.
