Step 2: Now it gets annoying
Now comes the part where most of you might get stuck.
The legendary sword now needs to be upgraded to Attack Value 280 and the last node must be unlocked. For this, you need some “heavy weapons” with a higher attack value than your legendary sword currently has. Blue ones will also suffice. With that, you can feed the sword. This is called infusing. A good source for such weapons is the event “Court of Oryx.”
Additionally, you need: 250 Glimmer, 10 Weapon Parts, 1 Light Particle, and 3 Legendary Marks.
Here’s how to upgrade your legendary sword to a value of 280 or higher:
Diligence and skills are necessary in Destiny

Then it’s back to typical missions. You must kill 50 Majors for Shaxx and 25 enemies in the Crucible. All with the sword. Majors are no problem now (those are the ones with the yellow health bars) – just go into a strike and give it to them.
In the Crucible, it’s not as easy as one might think. Instead of waiting for heavy ammo, you might also be able to score kills with the sword’s handle. Have fun!
So if some guy recently comes at you in the Crucible with the handle of his sword … you now know why.
How to kill Ectahr, the Sword of Oryx
The next step requires not diligence but skill. You need to patrol in the Dreadnaught and kill a special enemy: Ectahr, the Sword of Oryx. He is located in the area “The Founts” on the Dreadnaught.
In the forecourt to him, there are 3 Knights that need to be killed as simultaneously or within a short time frame as possible. After this preliminary skirmish, you will face him. His shield can only be damaged by your sword: Here is a video guide for Ectahr.
Once that is done, head back to Shaxx. The second part of the quest is finished. And don’t worry: The worst is almost over.
