In Destiny you can reach the maximum Light Level of 400 in “Rise of Iron”. We list all the ways you can level up purposefully.
Starting October 18, Guardians will be able to reach the new maximum of 400 Light Level. Until now, right after the launch of “The Rise of Iron”, Guardians could only reach 385 – or slightly exceed it.
With the launch of the heroic mode of “Wrath of the Machine”, the maximum increases to 400 Light Level. Bungie outlines the ways you can increase your Light up to 400.
Level up from 385 to 400 – Here’s how
Not only will your maximum Light Level increase to 400, but so will the maximum Light Level of the loot from certain activities. Senior Designer Victoria Dollbaum lists the following options:
- Strike Treasures: With Skeleton Keys, you can open chests at the end of Strikes that may contain 400 gear. All information about Strike treasures and Skeleton Keys can be read here.
- Nightfall: The Nightfall will also be a source for the best loot. The new recommended Light Level is 380.
- Exotic Engrams: Have these decrypted to increase your Light Level.
- Crucible, Iron Banner, Trials of Osiris: In the PvP area, you also have the opportunity to reach the maximum Light Level.
- Archon Forge: The Ghost shells and artifacts that now drop in this PvE arena should apparently go up to Light 400.
Additionally, although not explicitly mentioned by Bungie:
- Wrath of the Machine (Heroic): Even though this is not specifically mentioned, one can confidently expect that the Heroic mode of the raid grants items up to 400.
- Reward Packages: There is no information from Bungie regarding Light Level increases for the reward packages from rank-ups with factions. However, they are expected to include more Ghost shells. Additionally, Eris Morn’s packages contain artifacts even more frequently. Update: The packages grant loot up to 390.
Note: These Light Level increases will be implemented with update 2.4.1. This will bring further changes. As soon as there is more information on how to reach Light Level 400, we will update this article.
New Loot Sources up to 385 and 365
With 2.4.1, the Light Levels of the loot from other sources will also be increased:
- Up to 385: Legendary Engrams, heroic SIVA Strike playlist, Archon Forge.
- Up to 365: Rare Engrams (blue) and SIVA Strike playlist.
