In the MMO shooter Destiny the next patch will also bring new weapon traits. But what are they?
During the last livestream for Destiny on Wednesday they only wanted to showcase the new game content. The new items were not actually supposed to be the focus.
When the Bungie employees’ fireteam finally showed a weapon after the “Challenge of the Elders”—the sniper rifle Her Fury at 335 Light—they were able to catch a glimpse: the weapon revealed two new, yet unknown nodes.
What exactly this means, Bungie intends to reveal to us on Wednesday in the next livestream.
YouTubers have closely examined the images and made some findings. For instance, in the detailed description of “Her Fury,” the third trait reads “Activates a Red Chroma glow”—practically, that a red glow emanates from the weapon.
A step towards cosmetics and weapon skins in Destiny?
YouTuber DPJ connected this with images from the April update, where such a glow was noticeable.
At the moment, it looks like the “new nodes” are mainly visual improvements so that weapons get a different look—with a glow. The topic of “weapon skins” has long been a wish of the community. As early as October 2014, data miners found hints that Destiny had some plans for shaders. But since then, nothing has been heard about it.
Perhaps with such “cosmetic nodes” on other weapons or even armor pieces or ghosts, it might be possible to give guardians the “Possessed Look” that we know from the image:
