In Destiny, numerous innovations have been discovered after the 2.4.0 update, which Bungie has not yet talked about. Moreover, a graphics error, a “grain effect,” is currently causing excitement.
Since last night, the 2.4.0 update has been live. In addition to a variety of officially communicated changes, it also brought new features that the developers have not yet discussed. An especially annoying problem concerns the graphics.
“Grain Effect” in Destiny – what does Bungie say?
This problem seems to occur frequently, as both Reddit, the Bungie forum, and our news inbox are being flooded with reports about it. There is talk of a “grain effect,” “film grain effect,” graphics issues, and poor image quality. The image is said to look “grainy.” In dark areas, it is reported that one can hardly see anything. The users agree: This is terrible. Bungie needs to do something about it.
And Bungie has already responded: Community Manager Cozmo states in the Bungie Forum that he is investigating this issue. As soon as he knows more, he will let us know. We may soon expect a fix for it.
In the public letter to the community, Community Manager DeeJ reported further issues known since 2.4.0. Additionally, the Trespasser, already in the game, is the German “Unbefugter.”
Unannounced Changes with 2.4.0
For hours now, the Reddit forum has been collecting “secret” innovations that Guardians have discovered after the 2.4.0 update. In the meantime, a notable list has emerged, which you can view on Reddit. We list the most important changes:
- Iron Banner quests have been removed. Osiris quests are still available.
- The Sleeper Simulant has been nerfed so that you can no longer stagger Oryx solo.
- Items from exotic engrams can now be over 335 light level. So far, 338 is confirmed. Update: 339.
- The Nightfall strike seems to be rotating between Valus Ta’aurc and the S.A.B.E.R. strike at the moment.
- Weapon ornaments can now be previewed. If you already have a Hawkmoon, you can preview the ornaments called “Ravenous” and “Lustre of the Moon.” To activate these, you need the ornament and Silver Dust.

- “T12” gear is no longer “T12” gear. It seems that the items have lost attribute points. It is assumed that these need to be reduced due to the new maximum light level so that Guardians do not reach T12 too quickly.
- The gunsmith Banshee-44 now also sells armor materials. 250 Glimmer for 5 pieces. Additionally, the test weapons for this week have changed.
- In the Vanguard strikes, three playlists are now active: The Heroic Taken War, the Taken War (Level 36) and a Vanguard Legacy Strike Playlist (Level 20), in which the strikes can be played as they were before TTK. The strike playlist for RoI is still not active:

- In the Navigator, Felwinter Peak and the Plaguelands are already marked on Earth:

- Class items are affected by shaders.
- Faction sparrows are already in the reward packages, but it seems they are still locked until the launch of RoI. Here is a Sparrow from New Monarchy:

- Some blue engrams allow exotics to drop.
- In the inventory, the Chromatin is displayed under “Ornaments.”.
- All perks that have been unlocked so far are marked as “new.” When you hover over them with the cursor, everything is back to normal.
- Public events drop 5 light particles, but there are so far no reports of legendary engrams.
- High-level Guardians (Level 40, Light Level 335) also receive green engrams in the game.
In addition, there are some isolated reports, which, however, have not yet been confirmed. It is also likely that more changes will be discovered in the coming days.
