In Destiny, we take a closer look at the sniper rifle “Patience and Time.” Is it worth acquiring this?
Today, on Black Friday 2016, Xur brought the sniper “Patience and Time.” It costs 23 Strange Coins. Is it worth getting this weapon in year 3 of Destiny, or should you spend the coins elsewhere? The flavor text reads:
If you have it, you can take on anyone.
How to Get Patience and Time in Destiny
There are several ways to obtain the sniper rifle. These are officially listed:
- Wrath of the Machine: You can get Patience and Time in the new raid.
- King’s Fall Raid: The old Oryx raid is also a source for it.
- Nightfall Strike: The sniper can drop as a reward for the Nightfall.
- Trials of Osiris: You can also get it in the weekly PvP event.
- Xur: Sometimes Xur has the weapon available, like this weekend.
What Makes Patience and Time Stand Out in Destiny?
Patience and Time comes with interesting perks that campers will surely appreciate. Additionally, it has high stability, which has been increased by 11 points compared to the “Year 1” version. The downsides are its low impact of 22 and below-average reload speed. Patience and Time deals Arc damage. Here are the specific stats:
The following perks make the weapon unique:
- Patience and Time: When using the scope, you gain active camouflage.
- Third Eye: The radar remains active while using the scope.
You have the choice between:
- Field Scout: Increased ammo capacity
- Custom Optics: Precision lens for lower zoom, wider field of view
- Custom Stock: Increases weapon stability
Additionally, you can change recoil, range, and impact with Melee Ballistics, Field Choke, and Aggressive Ballistics.
The weapon was designed for you to stay in one place for a while and deal damage from there. “Patience and Time” – the name says it all. The great advantages of this weapon lie in the perks “Patience and Time” and “Third Eye,” making you a cloaked killer while still keeping an eye on everything.
Is it still worth it in year 3? In year 1 of Destiny, this weapon was a good choice, especially in PvP. It was highly rated by many Guardians.
Although it still has its exciting perks, it can’t be recommended for the special slot in year 3 anymore. Snipers with higher impact are chosen – if at all. Because right now, there is a shotgun meta in PvP.
Therefore: Currently, Patience and Time is a weapon for your Exotic collection that you can pull out if you want to test the special perks or if Arc burn is active. Otherwise, you will find better alternatives for the special slot, such as the new raid sniper.
