In the MMO shooter Destiny, the Iron Banner started in May 2017. Here’s what to expect.
Today, on May 9th, the Iron Banner kicked off at 7 PM. And it has a lot to offer: For the first time in the history of this PvP event, a Mayhem game mode is active. This means that your abilities (Super, grenade, melee) recharge much faster than usual. So watch out for flying hammers, Nova bombs, or arrows!
Games will be played in the Clash: Mayhem mode.
Most Guardians will probably pay less attention to tactics and just unleash one Super after another, hoping to hit something. This can be a lot of fun but also frustrating. Guardians don’t agree on this.
You have a week to celebrate your light in the Iron Banner. The event ends on May 16th at 11 AM.

How to grab the loot
If you’re new to Destiny or haven’t played Iron Banner for a while, here are the important details about the loot. There are four ways to get the loot:
- Purchase from Efrideet: Every month, Efrideet offers two of the “Iron Banner” weapons with fixed perks: This time the pulse rifle and the machine gun. The armor pieces can also be purchased from her.
- Random drop after Iron Banner matches: The two weapons that Efrideet offers can drop after matches with random perks. Also the armor pieces and other Iron Banner-specific rewards.
