In the MMO shooter Destiny, we will take a look at the new mode “Supremacy” in the Crucible. This comes with “The Rise of Iron.”
The PvP area of Destiny will see some innovations in fall 2016. In addition to four additional maps and the introduction of Private Matches and Custom Games, you can venture into the new mode “Supremacy”.
Grab Crests in “Supremacy”
If you have played multiplayer in Call of Duty, you will recognize this mode as “Kill Confirmed.” A kill alone doesn’t help you win here.
You only score points when you pick up “Crests” dropped by fallen enemies. These Crests are called “Signum” in German (plural: Signa) and resemble Engrams in appearance. Depending on the Guardian class, they have different colors and carry different emblems.
The Signum represents the dignity, the honor of the Guardian. Even if you die, you have not lost your honor. You can reclaim it. Only when the enemy grabs the Signum do they score points. If you manage to pick up the Crests of fallen teammates, you deny the opponents those potential points.
Short: In Supremacy, it’s not just about shooting the enemies down, but also stealing their honor. Therefore, in this mode, a certain aspect of the sublime should resonate.
Supremacy comes in three different variants:
- 6 vs. 6 – Standard.
- Inferno 6 vs. 6 – Here the radar is turned off for a hardcore experience.
- Free for all – Here, only 6 players compete against each other, not 12.
The YouTuber My name is Byf has already had a chance to test this new mode. In the following video, you can see gameplay footage. He also showed an impressive, noteworthy performance:
The Supremacy mode will demand high mobility from you. If you want to crouch in a corner to snipe the enemies from there, you won’t score any points. You need to make your way to the death location and pick up the Signum. An offensive playstyle will be necessary. Depending on the map, you can certainly proceed with tactical finesse as well.
In the video, gameplay takes place on the map Floating Gardens. Here we present the four new PvP maps from “The Rise of Iron”.
