At Destiny, we present pro tips for Sparrow racing. Which Sparrows does the pro use?
Fro99ywo99y1 is regarded as the master of the SRL. He sets best times again and again on the four tracks where the Sparrow races are held. 4m 2.684s on Mars, 3m 57.689s on Earth, 3m 48.229s on Venus, and 4m 9.796s on Mercury speak for themselves. In an interview with PlanetDestiny, he reveals some of his tricks.
The best Sparrow for the SRL
Anyone not using legendary Sparrows in the SRL is missing out. These vehicles come with higher speed and outperform lower-tier Sparrows. Most legendary Sparrows have a speed of 160, making them the fastest. Or?
Fro99ywo99y1 says: No! He does not use trick Sparrows, but Raid Sparrows. He personally uses XV0 “Timebreaker” (Glass Chamber), but the S-13 “Graverobber” (Crota) is also recommended. These are “much faster” than the other vehicles.
These Raid Sparrows, although only having a speed of 150, come with the perk Overdrive. This makes it possible to reach higher speeds. However, if you hold the Overdrive too long, the Sparrow will be destroyed.
Unfortunately, there is a bug: sometimes the Raid Sparrow may randomly explode.
Tips for Racing
The “pro” has an important tip: First, ride the tracks on the trick Sparrows to learn every curve and obstacle. Only then switch to the Raid Sparrow. These are significantly harder to control and do not forgive mistakes.
With the Raid Sparrows, try to bring the “Overdrive” perk to its limit throughout the entire race to get the most out of it. Use the Overdrive between gates and let it cool down while you race through the gates.
More tips:
- Try to get to the start before the other Guardians with the Raid Sparrow. This way, they will not get in your way.
