Destiny is purely an online game
Suddenly, the picture was gone, then it turned black and an error message popped up. What it was called, I don’t remember anymore, it had some weird name like “butterfly” or something. At first, I didn’t worry too much and simply logged back in. But in the following hours of play, error messages piled up immensely. It turned out that my internet connection was simply too slow.
With a 1.8 Mbit/s wooden connection, the game was hardly playable. And although I really liked Destiny and wanted to play it with my buddies who were also celebrating it, the fun quickly faded. Often the next kick came before I could even complete a mission, so I had to start them over again.
Eventually, the game grudgingly landed in the closet for the next weeks (!) and gathered dust. With most other online games, I had no issues with the internet, but for Destiny, it just wasn’t enough. In the Tower, it was dreadful; I couldn’t stay there at all. And so it happened that I only got to play until the second or third story mission, where you first encounter a Witch on Earth.
Not until the end of 2014 did my internet performance improve significantly after long talks with the provider. But then, yes then my legend really began. I started anew, created a human Titan with bright blonde hair, and off we went on the wild ride!
So this is how my entry into the Destiny universe looked ‒ it started out shaky, but now I can look back on a wonderful and ‒ in the truest sense of the word ‒ exciting year. Let’s see what the future brings.
