In Destiny, with the Age of Triumph, numerous new primary weapons with elemental damage were introduced. Which are the best Solar, Arc, and Void weapons?
In the past, the decision was easier: When Arc Burn was active, most Guardians immediately reached for the Zhalo Supercell. This primary weapon was introduced with the “Taken King” expansion and quickly became a must-have weapon that players always carried in their inventory. The Zhalo was the only primary weapon at endgame level that dealt elemental damage throughout Year 2 and for several months in Year 3. With The Taken King, the raid primary weapons with elemental damage from Year 1 were left behind.
With the Age of Triumph, these raid primary weapons returned – in double form. As a legendary version with kinetic damage and as an exotic adept version with elemental damage. A total of 16 new primary weapons with elemental damage (4 for each raid) were introduced. Additionally, the Vex Mythoclast and the Necrochasm made a comeback.
Which primary weapons with elemental damage are particularly worthwhile now?
The best primary weapons with Solar damage
The YouTuber and Destiny expert Datto wants to provide an answer to this question. He tested all weapons and created a tier list – categorizing the weapons from top tier (best) to bottom tier (worst). Keep in mind that when Arc Burn is active, none of these weapons are truly “bad.” But some are indeed better than others.
The top tier primary weapon with Solar damage is no big surprise:
- Vision of Confluence – Scout rifle from the Vault of Glass. This weapon already had numerous fans in Year 1 and shows strong performance in Year 3 as well. With a impact of 48, it belongs to the mid archetype. It has a large magazine, the perk Full Auto, and thanks to its solid stability, it is enjoyable to play with.

Solar primary weapons – Mid Tier. These weapons show solid performance but do not stand out:
- Merain’s Torment – Pulse rifle from the King’s Fall raid
- Chain of Creation – Auto rifle from Wrath of the Machine
- Fever and Remedy – Hand cannon from Wrath of the Machine

Solar primary weapons – Bottom Tier:
- Vex Mythoclast – Random drop from Atheon: The Vex is an absolute beast, but only within its optimal range. And that range is very short. Due to its instability and ammo issues, Datto places it only in the last category. However, it is not far from mid tier.
- Dreadnaught’s Defiance – Auto rifle from Crota’s End
On page 2, you’ll find the tier list for Arc damage and on page 3 is the tier list for Void damage.
