In the MMO shooter Destiny, there are detailed infos about the new enemies of “Rise of Iron”: The Devil Splicers.
Since early August, the English-speaking site Gaminformer has been gradually publishing exclusive articles about the upcoming fall expansion “Rise of Iron”. By now, the major secrets have likely been revealed, and the upcoming PvE and PvP content is largely known. Only little is known about the raid “Wrath of the Machine” – and this will remain the case until the launch of RoI.
Now, interesting information about the new enemies, the Devil Splicers, has come to light, which has not been detailed until now.
SIVA and the House of Devils
The “great danger” lies not in the Splicers themselves, but in SIVA. The fourth raid will thus also revolve around the “true origin of the SIVA outbreak”. These four letters represent a “plague,” a self-organizing, self-replicating nanotechnology.
Now the Fallen of the House of Devils have encountered SIVA in the depths of the Infested Lands – and they are being corrupted by it. They are becoming “deadly machine-gods”. Now you must confront these Devil Splicers and seal the threat forever.
When the developers at Bungie sat down for “The Awakening of the Iron Lords”, they knew that they had to introduce a new enemy group. After all, the Guardians do not want to always target the same objectives. With “King of the Taken”, Bungie introduced the Taken, new enemies that are variations of all previous enemy races. According to information from Gameinformer, it was more interesting for RoI to transform a single faction into a new enemy.
The Fallen volunteered for this. On one hand, they are a very diverse enemy race that also possesses a wide arsenal of weapons. This allowed Bungie to experiment with new enemy weapons and different combat behaviors. On the other hand, the Fallen Houses always want to outdo each other. With SIVA, the Devils are succeeding in this.
The new enemies are aggressive
The redesign of the Fallen for the Devil Splicers is not as dramatic as that of the Taken. However, one will quickly notice that they look more aggressive – and they are also highly aggressive. SIVA transformed the more nomadic race of the four-armed creatures into cybernetic warriors. Some limbs have been replaced with metal prosthetics.
The weapons have also been revised. While the weapons of the Fallen actually have “soft curves”, the curves are now much sharper. Also, the projectiles fly faster, more frequently, and aggressively. Three types of Splicers will be introduced below.
Exiled Splicer
The exiled splicers have leg prosthetics that allow them to move faster. They throw a unique SIVA grenade. Additionally: If you take them out with a headshot, there is a chance that they will send out a tracking “Death Orb” that slowly approaches the one who killed them. So you need to be on your guard, even after you have taken them out.
As weapons, they have pistols and shrapnel launchers, with the pistol not shooting in a straight line, but more in a zig-zag pattern.
Vandal Splicer
The new Vandals look quite different from what we know so far. They now have a berserker ability: When they are at low health, there is a chance that they will regenerate some health, become extremely aggressive, and charge at you as close combat fighters. They are said to have aggressive machine guns as weapons. The projectiles no longer track, but are fired at a high rate of fire.
The sniper shots are no longer single shots but rather three-shot bursts. Moreover, they have a certain spread. So it may be that you do not experience the full force of a sniper shot but only a portion of it.
Servitor Splicer
The servitors also have triple shots. They also shoot significantly faster. They have been designed to force you into cover. They take on an aggressive suppression role. In terms of appearance, they look more angular and sharper.
