In Destiny, No Land Beyond is the dominant weapon in the Trials. Why is that?
No Land Beyond went through an interesting development in the Destiny storyline. It was introduced with the DLC “The Dark Below” and was instantly considered the weakest exotic weapon in the game. Guardians even joked that there was no greater humiliation in PvP than being killed with this gun.
Over time, NLB became a sniper that, in the right hands, was considered a hidden gem. Currently, however, it is more than just a hidden gem: In the Trials of Osiris and elimination matches, it is the dominant weapon.
No Land Beyond – the most popular primary weapon in the Trials of Osiris
No Land Beyond is a sniper rifle with a unique ability: It is equipped in the primary slot. In terms of stats, it corresponds to the Icebreaker archetype: You can obtain the NLB from the usual sources such as Nightfall, Raids, Trials of Osiris, and occasionally from Xur.
But why is the gun so popular now? This is due to the changes made to special ammo, which came with Update 2.5.0.2. In elimination matches, including the Trials, you will now only start the first round with special ammo. At the beginning of each subsequent round, “Special Ammo” is removed.
In the Trials, Guardians often resort to sniper rifles to snipe across the lanes. However, as special ammo is now scarce, No Land Beyond as a primary weapon comes to the forefront. And with a bang!
According to the current statistics from guardian.gg, 12.4% of all kills in the current Trials are achieved with the NLB. This makes it the leading primary weapon in this mode by a large margin. In second place is the Palindrome with 6.5%.
Prior to the weapon patch, “No Land Beyond” was always among the most popular weapons in the Trials, but it did not hold this supremacy. The Clever Dragon and The Last Word were dominant. NLB was just swimming among the front ranks.
Now it is clear that Guardians definitely do not want to forgo their special weapons despite the special ammo changes. While the primary slot is occupied by the NLB sniper, the most common weapons in the special slot are pistols (which do not lose special ammo after rounds) and the Icebreaker – a sniper that regenerates its ammo. By the way: With 13.1%, the most popular pistol is The Wyrm.
If a precision hit is not achieved with the NLB, players quickly switch to The Wyrm to finish off the enemy. This seems to be the new meta in the Trials.
Bungie is monitoring these developments. Community Manager Cozmo has already asked via Twitter what you think about the special ammo changes, especially in the Trials.
So we ask you: What are your observations? What weapons do you play with?
Currently, a super glitch is haunting Destiny. Here are the details.
