In an interview with digitalspy, Fergal Gara, the Sony boss in the United Kingdom, discusses the impact that the shooter Destiny has on PlayStation 4 sales: In recent weeks, it has slowed them down a bit, but now it has led to an explosion.
In the past two weeks, the sales of the console had noticeably cooled down, according to Gara, as many were waiting for the release of Destiny, especially the attractive bundle: Many fans likely did not want to miss out on the new “white PlayStation 4” with Destiny included and were willing to wait until the last moment for the release of the package.
Now, with the delivery of the white PlayStation 4 bundle and the numerous orders coming in on Tuesday morning, the milestone of one million has been reached.
Amazon in Germany also offers attractive bundles that will surely stimulate purchases as well. Destiny is offered in a bundle either with an Xbox One or a PlayStation 4 for 399 Euros. The white bundle is currently available exclusively from one retailer, but it is expected to be available in regular retail later.
