A glitch has appeared with the final boss Crota in Destiny. He can also be “shoved,” but it’s not as easy as before, and definitely not recommended.
The final bosses in Destiny’s raids suffer from falling issues or at least did. Atheon could be pushed down the abyss for a long time, resulting in “loot” without having to defeat the boss properly.
Something similar is possible with Crota. At least there are videos of a single Guardian taking him down with Dragonsbreath or some grenades.
We were alerted to the video by a reader two days ago. Now that other sites are reporting on it, we address it as well. However, this should not be seen as an encouragement to replicate it, quite the opposite.
The video shows a single Guardian using the DLC rocket launcher Dragonsbreath to push Crota back by laying solar zones at his feet. Crota retreats and then falls “down the back” because that part of the map hasn’t even been built yet.
This is probably only possible if you confront him early enough, so that the encounter still needs to be “built up.” Usually, players are still held in a pre-room at this stage. Certain classes can, however, break free earlier from it.
It’s not something that should be imitated in any way. Discussions in the forums are ongoing about how it works exactly. In any case, it’s not as easy to “reproduce” as in previous glitches or cheeses. According to reports from players who’ve done it, it’s much easier to simply take him down “normally.”
The suspicion arises repeatedly that this can only be done with certain modified consoles of the older generation that can cause lags – and that would be, as Bungie has made clear, a sure reason for a ban.
Absolutely not recommended for imitation. Check out the tricks instead.
