MMO shooter Destiny has announced a content patch for December: “The Dawning of Iron Lords – The Dawning.”
It was expected: At the PlayStation Experience, Bungie introduced the next content “The Dawning.” It was, as one had to fear, not the huge package, but just the next little package: In December, with “The Dawning of Iron Lords – The Dawning,” a content update for Destiny is coming.
Currently, we only have a trailer and some keywords, but it is still more than one could expect. Last year, there was basically only the Sparrow Racing; this time there is Sparrow Racing and then a content patch and a Christmas event on top of that, it seems. Surprising is the return of the “Sparrow Racing League” (SRL) is not. That was already hinted at last summer for the time after “Rise of Iron.”
By the way: “The Dawning” sounds a lot cooler in English than in German.
Destiny “The Dawning” – Update in December looks like a mix of event and content patch
- The SRL, the Sparrow Racing, returns to Destiny. With new Sparrows and racing tracks. There will likely also be emblems, shaders, and other stuff to show off included in “the Dawning.” “Sparrow Racing” is exactly what you would imagine. Guardians hop on their bikes and race against each other and against the clock.
- There are new weapons and armor coming to Destiny – always nice.
- The Icebreaker will return – it’s one of the last cult weapons from year 1 that was still missing. The sniper rifle even regenerated its own ammo.

- New quests have been promised by Bungie – the Vanguard needs the help of the Guardians in Destiny again.
- And with “Strike Scoring”, a new system is being introduced. It looks interesting, as if they are taking the idea from “Challenge of the Elders” and using it now in everyday play. This is certainly the point that is currently the most interesting.
- Exposed in the trailer were also two machine guns, one with fire, one with void – could these be the two “Thunderlord Variants” that have been speculated about for so long?
- Christmas gifts were also promised in the trailer. That could mean again “gifts” – or new items for Destiny’s cash shop, for Eververse.
It starts on December 13. It should last until January 3. So it begins half a week later than last year and ends a week later than in 2015.

What exactly will stop after this and will no longer be available, whether just the racing and the Christmas event are time-limited or other elements (the scoring) as well, will surely be revealed in the coming days. The PlayStation exclusive items will surely be explained to us as well.
That was just a trailer and a summary, fresh from the PlayStation Experience. In the next few days, there will surely be more information and we can organize the whole thing.
