At Destiny, the developers talked about concept artworks and design secrets of the Dreadnaught in a ride-along. You can find the video here.
Back in mid-September 2015, the launch of the Taken King expansion for Destiny took place. Since then, a lot of water has flowed down the Rhine, and almost every secret in the Destiny universe has been revealed by clever Guardians. Or has it?
Design Ideas of the Dreadnaught
In a ride-along, the developers discussed how the Dreadnaught was created and why the designers made the choices they did. This behind-the-scenes look is meant to make you more aware while navigating the world of Destiny. If you are interested in these design secrets, taking a look at this video will be worthwhile:
The video discusses, among other things, these design goals:
- The Ghost should be a useful tool that can guide you through the Dreadnaught.
- The Taken forces should be introduced gradually.
- Rewards should encourage Guardians to explore. This does not only refer to Calcified Fragments and chests, but also includes the first encounter with Oryx’s Court when you leave the intended path of the first main mission on the Dreadnaught.
- It is also pointed out that many players who rush through the Dreadnaught to jump into the next fight would miss a lot of story and lore that can be found in the Dreadnaught.
For those who do not want to watch the entire video, we have picked out a few concept artworks that Bungie discussed. Do you also get a sense of recognition?
This week in Destiny begins today. Here you can find all the information.
