In the MMO shooter Destiny, the Companion App is being enhanced. Guardians will find it easier to locate other players for their fireteam.
In Destiny, there are certain activities that can only be successfully completed with a fireteam, such as the King’s Fall raid or the Challenge of the Elders. However, there is no matchmaking for these: You must form up in teams of 3 or 6. This poses significant problems for those Guardians who do not have a dedicated clan.
The Companion App of Destiny makes finding players easier
In the latest “This Week at Bungie,” a new feature for the Companion App of Destiny was introduced. For some time now, the community has had the Recruitment Forum, where Guardians can organize with each other to play activities without matchmaking. Until now, this wall of group suggestions has been quite chaotically arranged.
In the future, this service will have filter options: You can search by platforms, specific activities, or even headset availability, so you don’t have to scroll through pages to find suitable groups.
Even if you create a group, you can set various search options. Afterwards, you will see in real-time how your fireteam fills up with Guardians. However, there is one drawback to these player search options: once you find nice people, you will have to manually contact them on the console and add them to your fireteam in-game. So, one cannot speak of a “perfect matchmaking” function.
These changes are expected to be available starting next week.
How you can find Guardians for your fireteam and maybe even new friends in other ways in Destiny is described here.
