At Destiny, there was a curious issue in the Xbox Store over the weekend.
Some users recently reported that they received the items of the “Collector’s Edition” of “The Taken King” for free on Xbox. These are classes, emotes, shaders, and weapon packs that are usually paid items. The collector’s edition has a proud price of nearly 90 euros.
Apparently, an error occurred, causing some Guardians to receive these items for free simply by logging in or downloading a free addon from the Xbox Store. However, this was not intended by Bungie or Xbox.
The “gifts” must be returned
In the meantime, Xbox support has reassured via Twitter. This issue is now said to be resolved. But what happens to the items that some Guardians received as “gifts”?
Bungie is clear about this: Those who received these items unlawfully must return them.
Some Guardians are not particularly happy about this. They emphasize that they have always shown loyalty and were already disadvantaged compared to PlayStation Guardians. They at least could keep these free items. There is nothing wrong with that.
The community manager DeeJ responded to these posts as follows:
Destiny players ARE loyal and we love you. However, we must also be loyal to the “Collectors” who paid for this special edition.
