David Jaffe, the creator of the action-adventure game God of War, is now defending the MMO shooter Destiny in his own unique way via Twitter.
David Jaffe can’t quite understand how people can expect a game to entertain them for 100 hours or more, and then still not feel satisfied. He tweeted this in very flowery language: “I’ve read a few of those ‘That’s why I’m quitting Destiny’ articles,” he writes.
Jaffe can’t wrap his head around it when he reads, “I don’t know, after 100 hours or so, I have nothing left to do and it’s somehow boring.” “Of course!” writes Jaffe, “you’ve also played for 100 damn hours!” Since when did it become normal to expect a game to keep you entertained for so long?

The experience that Jaffe reads about in those “That’s why I’m quitting Destiny” articles seems to be something that some gamers are currently experiencing. The reasons for this are not hard to find: the last content expansion “The Darkness Lies” was released in early December and didn’t offer much new content. The withheld “Hard Mode” of Crota’s End also couldn’t hold players’ attention for long.
The next content expansion also seems to be a while away. The “House of Wolves” is not expected until at least April.
Meanwhile, there are issues at Bungie with the monthly events that were supposed to provide variety. The PvE event “Queen’s Wrath” has gone “back in the oven” since its first appearance in October and has not been seen since. Another PvP event, the “Trials of Osiris”, haven’t even been officially mentioned yet. Only the “Iron Banner” shows up every month, and it’s set to start again on Tuesday, the 17th.
At the end of the month, another patch is expected that will change weapon balancing and fix some bugs; however, it probably won’t be particularly motivating either.
Therefore, it might be likely that Jaffe will read some of the “I have nothing left to do in Destiny, what a lousy game” posts in the coming weeks.
