However, a large part of the team at Bungie is already a step further, as the “Activision Publishing CEO” Eric Hirshberg revealed during the last financial report to investors. According to him, most Bungie developers are focused on creating Destiny 2.
Hirshberg did not elaborate on what challenges and tasks await the Guardians in the Destiny sequel. However, he confirmed the release in 2017. Destiny 2 is on the right track.
At one point, Destiny 2 was postponed from 2016 to 2017. It was stated that the responsible parties were dissatisfied and that the live team should now provide content. A few months ago, the news spread that Destiny 2 has been completely rebooted and that deep restructuring had to take place.
But apparently, they are now on course and are sticking to a launch in 2017. However, which quarter this will be in is still uncertain.
First, on September 20, 2016, “Rise of Iron” will be released. And the interest seems to be strong: According to Hirshberg, the pre-orders for “Rise of Iron” have already surpassed those for “The Taken King”. This success certainly has something to do with the return of a certain rocket launcher.
After “Rise of Iron”, there should not be an immediate content drought. Bungie has already outlined which events will start in the following months.
