With “The Awakening of the Iron Lords”, a new PvE arena called Archon’s Forge will be introduced in Destiny . We will take a closer look at it.
With the upcoming autumn expansion, Guardians in Bungie’s MMO shooter will have plenty to do. New story missions, a new raid, new and redesigned strikes, new features in the Crucible, and a lot of fresh toys will be available for players to tackle the upcoming challenges.
A new content will also be “Archon’s Forge”, in English “Archon’s Forge”. We summarize 5 exciting facts about it.
1. What is Archon’s Forge?
Archon’s Forge is a PvE arena, where you can fight against enemies together with other Guardians. This forge is intended to be a mix of the Prison of Elders and the Court of Oryx: Enemies come in waves, similar to the Prison, but the location looks always the same, like in the Court of Oryx. In this new arena, there should be lots of molten metal – a forge indeed.
2. Where is Archon’s Forge located?
Archon’s Forge is situated in the new zone of the Scourged Lands. In these lands, there is a place called “Lord’s Watch”, a massive cliff from which you can overlook the entire area. From here, you can spot some locations you can visit, such as a stranded ship or a “bunker area”.
On the horizon, you can also see a “great, flaming fortress”, which turns out to be Archon’s Forge.
3. What do the fights in Archon’s Forge look like?
In Archon’s Forge, you need to withstand several waves of enemies. Apparently, you start a challenge by bringing a “SIVA piece” there. According to Gameinformer, some of these challenges are quite difficult. At the end of each challenge, you must defeat a hefty boss.
However: If you do not defeat the enemies quickly enough, the timer can run out, and no boss will appear. It seems you will need to deal constant damage to even complete the challenge and get the good loot.
Other players can join you, similar to the Court of Oryx, and support you in combat. But be careful: If you die in battle, you will be sent back to the entrance of the arena – which is locked. So, you would better wait until your partners revive you on the spot. Ideally, you shouldn’t die at all.
4. Are there special rewards as well?
If you master these “Archon’s Forge” challenges, you can win special weapons and armor pieces. There will be “Archon’s Forge” specific items. Archon’s Forge will also be a way to reach the new maximum Light level with class items.
While the armor pieces of the “Iron Lords” and those of the Iron Banner have a somewhat old-fashioned, medieval flair, those from the Archon’s Forge and the raid are elegantly and futuristically designed.
5. Does Archon’s Forge have a lore as well?
According to the developers, Archon’s Forge is of great importance to the Fallen hierarchy: A foot soldier of the Fallen must locate a piece of SIVA technology to prove his worth to his house. He then brings it to the Archon’s Forge to earn the right to fight and improve his standing.
So, when you bring SIVA pieces to the forge to trigger the fights, you are in a way trampling on the Fallen rituals.
