Stefan “Datto” Jonke is one of the stalwarts of the Destiny community and is considered an expert of the loot shooter. Over a million people follow his YouTube channel. Now he is taking a break, and the developers of Destiny 2 thank him for his work.
On June 12, Datto uploaded a video to his YouTube channel in which he announced that he wants to take a break. In the 23 minutes, he summarizes his career so far and thanks his community.
Who is Datto? Datto is regarded as an expert on the shooter within the Destiny community. He has been involved since the release of Destiny 1, which is since 2014. Recently, he has upset the players of Destiny, as he is said to be responsible for an increase in difficulty.
His personal comments on the game’s problems make him a polarizing figure in the community.

The Work “is not just rainbows and sunshine”
Why is Datto taking a break? Datto has been creating content on YouTube for 10 years – which according to the creator is an eternity in the fast-paced internet. He hasn’t taken a proper vacation in all those years and does not know what it’s like not to work.
Whenever he is not working, he feels guilty and stressed out. Datto now wants to find out what it feels like to have a “proper break.”
Datto does all the work related to his channel himself. This has led to him constantly thinking about work. Now he wants to have some peace.
Before he can no longer enjoy his job, he wants to change something because he is now “tired.” He is also aware that he is in a privileged situation. But it is not always just rainbows and sunshine.

What’s next for Datto? He wants to continue to provide content but offload part of the work to others. His wish is to produce content, hand it over, and call it a day.
Meanwhile, Datto has other responsibilities and tasks, saying, “your boy is growing up.” He wants to be able to enjoy gaming again because he hasn’t been able to do that for a while.
99% of the people Datto interacts with daily come from Destiny. He also met his wife through Destiny.
Datto is often asked what the alternative would have been. What he would be doing if he hadn’t become a content creator. His honest answer to that is: “I don’t know.”
In the end, Datto thanks his community: “I don’t know where I would be without you.”
Bungie thanks him for a decade “at the front”

Other users thank him for his long-standing work and support. Greyson Snyder writes: “You are THE Destiny guy. When I want news, I come here. You have helped the community a lot. Take some time, relax, do what you need to do.”
Several note that his videos have helped them, saying he has earned the break. Connor Bennetta writes that Datto is one of the biggest reasons why “Destiny has been my favorite game since I was 13.”
However, some players of Destiny 2 are so frustrated, that they wish for an end forever.
