At the end of January, Guardians will be able to obtain the Bastion, the third new weapon Exotic of Season 9, in Destiny 2. However, you can start preparing now to get the new Exotic weapon faster as soon as the quest goes live. We explain what you can do already.
This is the weapon in question: The Bastion is an Exotic fusion rifle for the primary slot. It deals kinetic damage but requires special ammo (the green one).

How to obtain the Bastion? You will receive the Bastion through the Exotic quest “The Spoken Word”. However, this is not live yet and will only start on January 28, but the steps can already be seen in the data of Destiny 2.
According to datamining, the quest will lead you from Saint-14 to Spider in the Tangled Shore, where you will have to:
- clear lost sectors
- eliminate enemies
- and finally complete the strike “The Hollowed Lair”.
You can start preparing this step now: If you want to get the new Exotic weapon as soon as the quest starts, you can prepare one step already – even though the quest itself cannot be attempted yet.
As part of the quest step “A Strong Arm”, you will need to complete 10 Spider bounties. This may sound relatively easy for seasoned players, but this task can still take some time.
Moreover, the regular bounties from Spider are offered in small numbers and the wanted bounties can only be obtained for the resource Ghost Fragments (a maximum of 20 can be carried), which fresh Guardians often have to earn first. So if you approach this step shortly without the necessary resources, you might waste a lot of time.
If you don’t want to waste additional time starting January 28, traveling across the solar system and finishing Spider’s bounties, you can complete them piece by piece until the quest begins and stock 10 of them in your inventory. By January 28, this should not pose a problem even for newly minted Guardians.
Once the quest for the Bastion goes live and you reach the corresponding step, you can leisurely turn in the 10 bounties and continue with the quest. This way you save both work and time.
