On Destiny 2, there was a strange incident on Friday, November 8th. The exotic goods vendor Xur brought a coveted exotic weapon, but the Cerberus+1 disappeared immediately. He replaced it with a significantly less attractive weapon: the Risky.
This is how Xur trolled the players: Xur appeared yesterday in the European Dead Zone. Just like it’s his damn job.
He had the auto rifle “Cerberus+1” with him. It is a primary weapon for the kinetic slot. It was newly introduced with Forsaken to Destiny 2, so it’s about a year old.
But Xur’s inventory changed spontaneously.
Now he sold the weapon “Risky”, an exotic submachine gun. The Risky is an Exotic that many players have, as the weapon is available through quests in the game.
Players have the weapon snatched from their eyes
This was the reaction: The Guardians reacted confused, as in some cases the “Cerberus+1” was taken from them right before their eyes.
Players on reddit report that they clicked on the weapon, Xur refused to give it out, and when they looked again, they saw the Risky in the inventory.
One says: “I got the Cerberus+1, I feel like I got really lucky right now.”
On MeinMMO, Guardian Julian Drowner writes: “Why does he change his inventory? How stupid is that, a Risky has everyone who has played at least 3 characters. I don’t have a Cerberus yet, and I won’t be getting one anytime soon. Have a nice day, you disgusting tentacle child.”
Daylight saving time hits
Why is Xur trolling the players like this? The community manager of Destiny, Cozmo, explained the incident (via bungie.net).
According to him, it’s due to the daylight saving time change. This happened on November 3rd – so this was the first time that Xur appeared at Destiny 2 during US winter time.
Xur’s offer has partly been adjusted to the old daily reset, Cozmo says. They will take a look at it at Bungie. But players should assume that the Risky will continue to be offered throughout this week.

What’s behind this: The reset times of Destiny have always been a bit strange, as some seem to be server-side fixed and do not adjust to daylight saving time.
That’s why Xur appears an hour earlier in winter than in summer.
After 5 years, this strange phenomenon seems to have affected Destiny. Or Xur was just naughty again.
