What happened this week in Destiny 2? A lot. The new Season 21 has started and has taken Guardians into the underwater world of Titan. There, you can dive into missions, collect corals, or simply relax with a round of fishing.
A few days later, players were informed about the development of Bungie’s first shooter in 10 years. It will be called Marathon, bringing Bungie back to its roots.
And the probably best news of the week was the comeback of a well-known gunslinger from Destiny 2, whose face Guardians last saw when they were there during his last breath.
Additionally, a new dungeon called “Ghosts of the Depths” starts today, which this trailer gives a watery preview of.

When does Xur come? Xur, the Agent of the Nine, appears in Destiny 2 every Friday at 7:00 PM. His visit then ends again the following Tuesday at 7:00 PM. During this time, Guardians can purchase exotic items from him.

The Trials will probably take a backseat this week to the new dungeon “Ghosts of the Depths” because most Guardians want to discover this new PvE endgame activity right away this Friday.
For those who do not want to do that or can’t buy the dungeon key, you can also go to the Trials as usual and prove your skills in PvP to earn the new rewards.

Which map is happening this week? Unlike the normal PvP, where the maps rotate, there is only one fixed map every weekend in the Guardian-vs-Guardian endgame.
This is the reward for a flawless run: Every week, you can also expect a very special weapon at the Lighthouse, which you will receive for your flawless run, that is, 7 victories, as a Master version. You can earn the weapon until next Tuesday, March 30, at 7:00 PM.
Focus on what you want: Through the focusing system, players can now also focus on old armors and weapons they want or are still missing.
Your earned Trials Engrams can be focused at the 14th Saint on your desired weapon. Additionally, there are enhancement prisms and ascendant shards. Remember that your reward will further increase once you have a complete pass—even if you lost one or two games.
When do the Trials officially start? The Trials of Osiris begin today, May 26, 2023, at 7:00 PM and end with the Weekly Reset on May 30, 2023, at 7:00 PM.
These Trials changes await you in Season 21:
Trials with a new main game mode “Territory”: The new mode is team-oriented and will be activated as the main game mode for Trials starting in Season 21. This change will make it more difficult for teammates to carry others to the Lighthouse, as it places a lot of emphasis on solid teamwork.
Additionally, you will have to prove yourself much more from Season 21 on if you want to gild the title “Flawless.” Bungie aims to bring a certain level of core competence into the game to show that the player deserves the title “Flawless Gilded” through hard work.
For this, there is a new emblem that is obtained when you open the Flawless Chest at the Lighthouse and have not incurred a setback in any of the victories necessary for it. This means you must earn the medal “Dove’s Flight” for every victory. This should present a significant challenge.
These new and old Trials rewards await you in Season 21:
- For the first time, a Trials glaive called “Unexpected Return” enters the game. It is an adaptive Arc glaive that can be earned during the weekend of June 9.
- “The Messenger,” the well-known kinetic pulse rifle with high impact, will return on the weekend of June 16.
The following weapons will be removed from the standard loot pool in Season 21, but the non-master versions will be available through legacy focusing with the 14th Saint:

A bug and a new mode: Especially solo players have rarely been able to shine in Trials. Bungie has now confirmed that there was indeed a problem with the lobby balancer that led solo players with high skills to often feel that matches were geared against them.
A solution has now been implemented for Season 21 that overrides the skills of all in the challenger pool with the same value, making lobby balancing effectively random for those aiming for Flawlessness.
Since this abolishes player search based on game passes, you also won’t need to reset your card if you want to help a friend reach the lighthouse after you’ve already been there. The number of victories on the card no longer affects the difficulty of the matches.
