In Destiny 2, Xur is indeed exciting for everyone again. He will be bringing Forsaken exotics starting from Season 6.
Here’s what it’s about: Since the Forsaken expansion in fall 2018, exotic weapons and armor pieces have become significantly rarer than before. While many guardians have already completed the Year 1 exotics, even today many players still possess only a handful of the Forsaken exotics – as they drop extremely rarely.
Starting next week, you will be able to obtain the Forsaken exotics more targeted and frequently.
What does Xur have to do with this? Xur, the grumpy exotic vendor with a noodle-like face, can also bring Forsaken exotics in Season 6.
This was confirmed by Bungie’s Community Manager dmg04 via Twitter. He posted a brief preview of the patch notes for Season 6:
Xur will be updated with the next week’s update so he can offer Forsaken exotics

Xur is back to his old self – with a bonus for season pass holders
Is there anything else changing with Xur in Season 6? dmg04 emphasizes that Xur is still the same “snake-faced bastard” that players know from Destiny 1. He is still randomly changing his offerings with exotics from various content releases. In other words, he won’t bring Forsaken exotics every time.
- The fate engrams will not drop Forsaken exotics. This may change in a future update.
- Xur will bring invitations of the Nine for season pass holders starting March 15. Through these invitations, you will receive new tasks, learn stories about the Nine, and receive powerful rewards. More on this can be read here:
Xur likely won’t be bored to death anymore
Here’s the situation around Xur: In Destiny 1, the weekly visit from Xur was a major event. This was mainly due to a very particular rocket launcher that was so overpowering that everyone wanted it from Xur. In the following Destiny 1 years, however, the tentacle-faced vendor gradually lost significance, as guardians had acquired the exotics he could offer over time.
In Destiny 2, there was initial excitement about what Xur would bring, but then interest in him rapidly declined. Guardians were flooded with exotics in the first year, so many already owned them all within a few weeks, rendering Xur unnecessary.
Xur comfortably faded away for months. Only his biggest fans still showed interest in his visits.

With the Forsaken expansion, Xur was slightly revamped. He was supposed to become more mysterious and no longer be marked on the map. However, his offerings remained underwhelming as he only brought Year 1 exotics so far – which most guardians already owned.
Here’s how the community reacts to the new, old Xur: That Xur can finally offer Forsaken exotics starting next week is currently the top topic in the Destiny subreddit. The information has already received nearly 4000 upvotes, even though it is just a few hours old.
The “hype” around Xur seems to slowly be reawakening. The first guardians are already expressing their wishes about which exotic Xur must bring next week. Others, however, are already painting a potential shitstorm that would inevitably occur if Xur had no Forsaken exotic on offer next week.
Xur, you seem to be thawing out again!
