The developer of Destiny 2, the game company Bungie, has countered a conspiracy theory regarding the FPS of the consoles. They do not throttle the performance of consoles at the request of a partner. This seems to be about the Xbox One X, which will also display Destiny at only 30 FPS.
Mark Noseworthy is the producer of Destiny 2, and he has spoken out in a series of tweets. Apparently, Noseworthy contradicts a conspiracy theory that is currently circulating in the Destiny community.
Twitter Series on “FPS on Consoles in General and the Xbox One X in Particular”
The tweets come in the wake of information presented at E3, that the “Xbox One X”, Microsoft’s new console, will also display Destiny 2 at “only” 30 FPS – just like Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 4 Pro.
This prompted Guardians to discuss. They had just seen Microsoft’s presentation: there, Microsoft had praised the Xbox One X as “the most powerful console of all time” and now the information that it would also only achieve Destiny 2 at 30 FPS. This led some to dark ideas: After all, Bungie and Sony have been linked for a long time.

Some suspected: Well, Sony will have a hand in it. They are in cahoots with Bungie, having an exclusive deal. Therefore, the Xbox One X shouldn’t be better at Destiny 2.
Producer Mark Noseworthy now states clearly: “We would never throttle a game’s performance to make a partner happy. And no partners have asked us to do such a thing.“
Destiny 2 runs at 30 FPS because … Space Magic
At Bungie, they optimize each platform so, that it delivers the “Social Action Game” best. All consoles will run at 30 FPS to represent the NPCs, environments, and other players. All of this is bound to the CPUs. Currently, they are still checking whether the Xbox One X can provide 4k, after all, it is arriving after Destiny 2. At the moment, they are focusing on the launch platforms.
3/4: All consoles will run at 30fps to deliver D2’s AI counts, environment sizes, and # of players. They are all CPU-bound.

Noseworthy had already said at the Destiny reveal that achieving 60 FPS on consoles would only be possible by reducing the number of things happening on screen: such as AI opponents. And this colorful chaos with all the Space Magic is what makes Destiny exciting.
