In Destiny 2, the new contact event can get really chaotic. To avoid relying on teammates, MeinMMO shows a build that allows you to clean up almost single-handedly, and it dominates even on heroic difficulty.
This is what the build can do: We present a build to help you easily master the new contact event from Season 11. The focus is on taking the PvE activity to heroic difficulty without the help of allies and being prepared for all dangers.
In Season 11, you will likely participate in the contact event multiple times, as participation is crucial for both the weekly story quest and other content.

How to Build the Strong Build
We describe in detail the components that make up the build. We will take a closer look at the necessary weapons and mods. It doesn’t matter if you are a Hunter, Titan, or Warlock – all classes can use it.
The Best Weapons for the Contact Event
Use an exotic pulse rifle:
The unusual pulse rifle fires only two shots at once but creates a small black hole and causes seeking mini nova bombs to appear on kills. Ideal for keeping entire hordes of adds at bay. Additionally, Graviton Lance benefits from the recent buff to aggressive pulse rifles.
Alternatively, you can use:
- Bad Karma – This nasty weapon reloads itself and rapidly charges your super with kills. Oh, and bonus damage and fully automatic firing are included.
- Perfected Outbreak – Whether you land precise hits or get kills, your Siva nanobots swarm out and turn enemies into dust.
All three weapons can gain extra power through their exotic masterwork catalysts.
Use an SMG as a secondary weapon: Depending on which exotic you choose, you need to use a different submachine gun. However, the choice is not that important, as the weapon is almost only relevant for fighting champions.
These two options are available:
- Escape Plan (kinetic slot)
- Lonely Spider (energy slot)
Take a sword as a power weapon: Since the rework of blade weapons, we recommend: take a sword – as the Wanderer nicely says. He is indeed right for the contact event.
Which sword you choose doesn’t matter too much. Ideally, you should opt for the two new swords from Season 11 with “Whirlwind Blade” and “Unrelenting Strikes” in combination with a boss specification.
Shortly, you will read a detailed report about the two new swords on MeinMMO.
Mods Make the Build Strong and Complete
These are the mods you need: Only through the use of certain mods does the build unleash its full power. Here we list the most important mods along with their locations, specifically tailored to the encounters in the contact event.
- Anti-Barrier Rounds (seasonal artifact): Equip this mod in your SMG
- Unstoppable Pulse Rifle (seasonal artifact): This armor mod grants every pulse rifle the ability to stop unstoppable champions – for the first time, exotics benefit from this as well
- Radiant Blade (Prisma-Transformer): Equipped in an Arc armor, it increases sword damage and energy recharge – it is part of the daily rotating mods that you can buy for 3 mod components
You still have plenty of space to enhance or customize your build with additional mods. We recommend considering these mods:
- Oppressive Darkness – Provides debuffs
- Charge with Light – Makes it easier for you to become charged with light
- Protective Light – As you are using the light charge mechanic, you benefit from the additional protection
- Stacking – Makes permanent light charge even easier
Dominating the Contact Event from Season 11 Alone
This is how to play the build: In the contact event, three factors can cause problems for you:
- Hordes of adds
- Boss enemies
- Champions
The build has an answer for all aspects.
Your pulse rifle works wonders against the horde of small enemies. All the presented guns get stronger in combat and charge your powerful abilities or control adds with their exotic properties.
If a boss enemy or mini-boss tries to disrupt the party, give it a hard time with your sword. Let light hits build your combo and damage, then unleash a heavy attack to smash everything. The perks will keep you well-stocked with ammunition and you can also show majors the way of the blade.
This is what you do against champions: Particularly the fight against champions can be frustrating in public activities, as some random teammates might not use the necessary mods. The build allows you to effectively overcome all champions almost single-handedly.
- You attack barrier champions until they kneel to build their shield. Then switch to your SMG and break the shield before the healing starts.
- You force unstoppable champions to stop with a shot from your pulse rifle. Just look through the sights for a second.
- Overload champions can be fought with your sword and super or Oppressive Darkness without needing a special mod.
Since you can also tackle champions without help, you should have no trouble triggering the contact event on heroic. Your teammates will thank you.
You should also try a different build that transforms your weakest guns into true killer weapons: Destiny 2: New mod makes pistols really strong – Be sure to get them
