Many players hope that we can actively participate in the upcoming finale of Season 10 of Destiny 2. But some think that we will only remain in the role of spectators. Why?
What is currently happening in Destiny 2? In Destiny, the current Season 10, the Season of Worthy, is coming to an end. It officially ends on June 9 – unless the new season is postponed like in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare due to the situation in the USA.
Then Season 11 should begin, about which currently there is practically nothing known. But before that, the finale of Season 10 remains.
What some players hope for the finale: Guardians expect two major things by the end of Season 10.
On one hand, that we may finally encounter the Darkness. With the last Weekly Reset of Season 10 on June 2, a new cutscene was revealed. There we see the arrival of the Darkness at Jupiter.
Whether we will see more of the Darkness in the Season of Worthy or actually encounter it, remains questionable. But now it is known – the arch-nemesis of the Guardians is right at our doorstep.
On the other hand, many Guardians hope that we will have something to do in the seasonal story as a season finale. After all, the Almighty, a massive cabal capital ship, is racing towards Earth and is now close to colliding with our planet.
Here we should actually work together with Zavala, Ana Bray, and War Mind Rasputin to avert the impending catastrophe – possibly through an in-game event or a final mission, so the hope of some Guardians. After all, it was said that we should help Rasputin destroy the Almighty. But in the end, it could turn out to be less exciting than initially sounds and as some had hoped.
Are we just spectators during the destruction of the Almighty? Currently, many players and fans are discussing a special legendary emblem – Seraph Wings. It is not yet available and is apparently intended as a reward for when the Almighty is destroyed.
What many see critically is the description of how to obtain the emblem. The source states: Witness Rasputin’s full power.
In addition, the most well-known Destiny dataminer Ginsor posted the following lines on Twitter: “The Almighty no longer exists. Come to the Tower to see the fallout and pick up your memorial emblem.”
This is likely the text that will also be visible in the game after the Almighty is destroyed. After all, Ginsor is not known for trolling or joking.
Due to the description and Ginsor’s tweet, many Guardians now assume that we will no longer actively intervene in the events surrounding the destruction of the Almighty, but rather just passively observe it – possibly in another new cutscene. For many players, “to witness” means “to watch something” rather than to participate actively.
The Tower could actually be damaged: For some time now, rumors and leaks have been circulating that the Tower could be destroyed or at least damaged as a result of our efforts against the Almighty.
More about this can be found here: Destiny 2: Leak shows destruction of 2 locations – likely kills an entire planet
And as it seems, it could actually happen if we believe Ginsor’s tweet. Because he speaks of Guardians coming to the Tower to see the fallout. For some, this sounds like the social space will also be affected once again.
What do you think, how will Season 10 end? Will we, as Guardians, still have an active role in stopping the Almighty? Or will we only experience the upcoming spectacle as spectators?
