With the defeat of the Forsaken raid boss Riven, the Dreaming City in Destiny 2 has been cursed. There is still no way for the Guardians to break the curse. However, a data miner has now discovered when it might finally be possible.
The Dreaming City of the Awoken is caught in a three-week curse cycle. Each week, the corruption from the Taken curse in Forsaken increases, peaks in the third week, and then starts over again.
How long the city will remain trapped in this time loop and when the Guardians can expect something new there is still unknown. There have been no indications from Bungie.

Data miners reveal: The curse will likely last at least until February 2019
As a clever data miner has uncovered, it seems that the Guardians will have to wait until February 2019 to finally break this curse. Extracted voice lines from the game data of Destiny 2 suggest this.

Hence February is expected: The audio files apparently contain alternative dialogues that were recently added to the game. Two voice lines stand out in particular:
- In a conversation between Mara Sov and the ghost of your Guardian, it is revealed that the curse of the Dreaming City is expected to last at least 7 cycles. Each cycle lasts three weeks.
- In another dialogue, it is mentioned that the player has broken the curse. Merchants then refer to your Guardian as “Cursebreaker” – just like Riven, the Ahamkara final boss from the Forsaken raid. The connection between Riven and the player apparently strengthens over time.
If we assume that the curse will actually last for 7 full cycles, then the earliest one can expect that the Taken curse will finally be lifted is February 2019.

Currently, Bungie has not scheduled any major events for February in its roadmap for Forsaken. However, it is possible that an announcement will occur by then or that the curse will last longer than the 7 cycles.
Are we facing a battle with Savathûn’s daughter Dûl Incaru? Fans already have a theory about how the curse will be broken: This is how Destiny 2 cleverly explains the 3-week rhythm of the endgame zone
What was also in the audio files: According to the words of the data miner, the factions that are currently taking a break for revision will play a larger role in the future. Additionally, there are new lines for the Crimson Days and the Dawning event, suggesting a return of both activities in year 2.
Previously, other voice lines had indicated a final return of the Guardians to the Cosmodrome.
