Bungie has announced that with the upcoming update 1.2.1 for Destiny 2 , a strike will be temporarily removed from the heroic strike playlist. But instead of being up in arms, fans are even pleased about less content this time. Why?
One less heroic strike: As Bungie announced via Twitter, with the upcoming update 1.2.1 on May 29, the strike “Exodus Crash” will be temporarily taken out of the matchmaking of the heroic strike list. The reason for this was numerous complaints from fans.
The developers now plan to revise some aspects of the strike. How long the strike will be missing and what improvements are to follow is still unknown.
Content is being removed – Fans are satisfied
Fans are pleased: Where normally a wave of outrage would be expected, the feedback on this step by Bungie has mostly been positive.
Guardians are particularly pleased about the fact that Bungie has reacted relatively quickly to community criticism. For instance, Reddit user x0x_CAMARO_x0x wrote: “Bungie, thank you for continuing to listen to player feedback. We greatly appreciate this and are happy that the strike is to be improved now.”

The reactions go so far that fans are actually happy for the first time about removed content, instead of getting upset about it. Redditor SirNastyPants says: “I think I’ve never been so relieved to hear that content is being removed from a game.”
What is the problem with Exodus Crash? Since the launch of Destiny 2, Exodus Crash has been one of the least popular strike activities in the game – this has repeatedly been echoed in numerous comments and Reddit posts.
It has also been felt repeatedly in the game itself. Whenever Exodus Crash was due in the playlist, almost always a teammate would immediately leave the party – often both companions.
Particularly the boss fight has received little goodwill from fans due to its mechanics. The Fallen boss Thaviks the Corrupted has an enormous health pool. Moreover, he can repeatedly become invisible, only to reappear behind the players with a deadly melee attack.

The players themselves only have short time windows for damage phases. Additionally, there are few evasive and cover options in the circular arena. Some attacks from the Fallen leader can also simply not be avoided.
With the introduction of modifiers in the heroic strikes, complaints then escalated. Because in some combinations, the strike simply became unplayable – especially the boss encounter. Players often spent more time fighting Thaviks than in a raid – and still failed at the end.
This has been pointed out to Bungie in numerous Reddit threads repeatedly. Now the studio has reacted accordingly.
What are your experiences with Exodus Crash – especially after the introduction of the modifiers in heroic strikes? Can you understand the fan criticism and Bungie’s reaction?
