There is a way in the Menagerie to loot multiple times in just one run using a trick. However, this popular cheat is soon going to be blocked by Destiny 2.
What is the trick in the Menagerie? With the Cup of Opulence, you can farm for specific gear pieces, such as the new Menagerie-exclusive weapons. Additionally, depending on the upgrade progress of the cup, there are several Powerful loot.
All of this comes from the final boss chest, which you can usually only open after the fight against the final boss. It can take quite a while to reach there. But with the mentioned trick, it is then possible to loot this chest multiple times in just one run.
This makes especially targeted farming of gear and desired rolls with the cup considerably easier. So if you’ve ever wondered why after a Menagerie run, it always feels like at least half the team starts running around wildly – now you have the answer.
When will Bungie fix this exploit? This was not intended, however. As the developers shared in the current “This Week at Bungie” blog, this exploit will soon be history. In a new update scheduled for July 9, this bug will be fixed.
Bungie emphasizes it is a mistake in favor of the players. Therefore, there are no penalties expected if you have actively used the trick. According to the studio, they have not rushed to close this additional loot source. They even jokingly recommend to hurry while this option still exists. After all, in the Season of Opulence, players should be bursting with power and strength, as Bungie puts it.
How does the trick work? It’s not really complicated. Once you have looted the chest after the final boss fight, leave the boss room in the direction from which you entered.
Now, you need to walk far enough until you reach a new area. This will be signaled to you on the left side of the screen by the display of the new area name.
Now turn around and run back to the chest. There, you equip the cup with new runes of your choice and can then open the boss chest again. This process can now be repeated as often as you want until the timer runs out at the end of the activity.
What is the Menagerie? The Menagerie is a new activity from the Season of Opulence, designed for a team of six Guardians, but is not a raid. You need to prove your worth before the Cabal Emperor Calus.
In this context, you fight in previously unexplored areas of the gigantic Leviathan ship in a maze-like network of various rooms and tunnels against waves of monsters and defeat weekly rotating bosses – all in a race against the clock. Along the way, you can loot all sorts of cool loot from the boss chest.
