Destiny 2 aims to restore a dusty exotic weapon to its former glory and will give the Sleeper Simulant a significant upgrade. Learn here how the buff looks in detail.
This weapon is about: It concerns the exotic linear fusion rifle Sleeper Simulant (Sleeper Simulant). Once, this weapon exotic was a powerful tool in PvE of Destiny 2, but has become essentially insignificant due to nerfs and has not been a top choice for the coveted exotic slot for quite a while.

What’s up with the buff?
- In Season 14, this exotic weapon was actually supposed to be buffed.
- Many players were already thrilled: Cool, the Sleeper will finally be relevant again.
- But the buff turned out to be way too weak (3%) and was hardly noticeable.
- The exotic was still too weak for the Guardians.
However, a player cautiously inquired on reddit whether the 3% was actually intended. And lo and behold: Bungie actually responded, which may please many. As Community Manager Cozmo23 explained, the 3% was a mistake; a larger buff was planned. The weapon will now definitely be made stronger – even stronger than originally planned.
The details of the buff are as follows: Instead of the 3%, which became due to a mistake in the last buff, originally 15% more damage was planned. And now the weapon is supposed to become even 16.5% stronger compared to the previous season.
What does it mean? This could actually restore the former top exotic to its past glory and finally make it relevant again in boss fights and generally in endgame content – something many Guardians have been asking for seemingly forever.
For context: According to Cozmo, the Sleeper would deal by far the highest damage per shot after this buff, have a very good burst damage. Additionally, the damage on body shots is much higher than that of all other linear fusion rifles. The Sleeper forgives significantly more, especially regarding this weapon category, when one misses the crit spot (via reddit).
When will the buff come? Unfortunately, Cozmo has not made any statements about this so far. However, it is quite conceivable that the buff will already be included in the next patch, which is supposed to come soon. The update will also help the new Warlock armor exotic “Boots of the Tinkerer” back into play.
