Destiny 2 aims to match controller input to the level of mouse and keyboard. To achieve this, a mod will be completely removed from the game and new control options will be introduced.
What are the changes about? Soon, Destiny 2 will launch Season 15. With it, Bungie’s action MMO will not only receive various new content – there will also be a lot of changes in gameplay. This includes new control options for those playing Destiny 2 with a controller.
Bungie adjusts controller sensitivity and the “Grounding” mod
Why the changes? The developers are trying to match the level of mouse and keyboard further in some areas – especially regarding the agility of your Guardians.
For controller players in PvP, it has become almost mandatory to equip the “Grounding” mod to be a bit more agile and to turn faster, although it still does not feel the same as using mouse and keyboard. For players using mouse and keyboard, however, it is completely unnecessary. As the developers explained in the current “This Week at Bungie” blog, this mod should be an option for better movement and not a necessity in terms of balance.
Moreover, it has been noted that the current maximum sensitivity value of 10 is still not enough for some controller players. Therefore, there will be some changes with the balance patch at the launch of Season 15.
What is changing with the Grounding mod? The Grounding mod will be completely removed in Season 15. This will be compensated by some new input options.
These are the new control options: Starting from Season 15, you will be able to additionally configure the following in the controls:
- There will be an adjustment option for turning speed while sprinting. This can be set between 0.3 and 0.8.
- There will be additional controller sensitivity options. The previous levels 1 to 10 will remain unchanged, while levels 11 to 20 will be newly added.
- A targeting sensitivity modifier (for sensitivity setting while aiming through a scope) will be added. This can be set between 0.5 and 1.5.
By the way, there will also be new options for melee combat in Season 15: This is how Destiny 2 wants to improve melee combat with a new control feature
What do you think of these changes starting from the upcoming Season 15? A welcome “Quality of Life” improvement or just unnecessary fiddling? Have you also had to waste a valuable mod slot for Grounding on the controller? Let us and other readers know in the comments.
