All changes to the Colossus Titan
According to Bungie, the Stasis Titan has the highest win rate of all classes in 6v6 modes. Also, in 3v3 modes, the Colossus is performing at the top. For example, only the upper Dawnblade is more successful in the Trials. To change this, adjustments are being made primarily to mobility.
Shiver Strike: The melee attack is something like the Stasis Swiss army knife of the Titan. Both in normal gameplay and in the Super, it had plenty of mobility to escape or bridge the distance to the enemy.
- Range and flight speed of the Shiver Strike are being reduced (the exact numbers are still secret).
- The knockback effect against other Guardians will be weaker.
- The slowing effect will be completely removed against other Guardians.
Glacial Quake: In their Super, Colossus Titans can utilize all the benefits of mobility and also receive significant damage reduction, making it challenging to kill them.
- This protection in the Super is reduced from 50 % to 47 %.
- The heavy strike generates a smaller vertical freezing wave against enemy Guardians. You will need to be closer to the enemy to hit with the ability.
These Stasis fragments of the Titan are receiving a nerf
Like all Stasis classes, Titans can also rely on special aspects to become stronger and learn a few new tricks. However, the two most dominant aspects in PvP are receiving a nerf. The trend is also moving towards less mobility and reduced range.
Cryoclasm: This Stasis aspect is one of the most powerful tools in PvP, as Titans can slide very far and quickly. This makes them difficult to hit and easily traverse large distances. Combined with a shotgun, there are often no counter-options. This is changing:
- Before you can use the enhanced slide, you now have to sprint for 1.25 seconds.
- Bungie is completely removing the cooldown because you need to wait 1.25 seconds before each use anyway.
- In the Super, you don’t have to sprint first; the effect is available immediately.
Howl of the Storm: With this Stasis aspect, Titans can perform a melee attack out of a slide, creating Stasis crystals and freezing enemies. This has often been combined with the Cryoclasm aspect described above. Soon, however, the benefits will be reduced:
- The angle of the Stasis crystals will be reduced (how wide the ice formations spread).
- The freezing radius is reduced.
- Crystals will build up more slowly to give players a chance to escape.
- It now creates an ice crystal on walls if you slide into walls.
All changes to the Revenant Hunter
The Stasis Hunter performs well according to Bungie, in terms of kills per minute, win rate, and efficiency. However, the usage rate is so high that players feel they are constantly hit by annoying shurikens and ice tornadoes. In the Trials, a proud 36% use the Revenant. Therefore, extensive changes are coming.
Blade of the Withering: Stasis Hunters have 2 ice shurikens available to them, which they can throw as a melee attack. The projectiles seem to magically seek their targets, bounce off walls, and cause the annoying slowing effect with just one hit.
The changes to the Blade of the Withering are extensive due to the criticism:
- The slowing now lasts only 1.5 seconds against Guardians (previously 2.5 seconds).
- The additional slowing duration from Whispers of Captivity (fragment) is now only 0.5 seconds instead of the previous 2 seconds.
- Hits against players deal 45 damage (previously 65), and after bouncing only 30 damage.
- The shurikens fly 10 % slower.
- The tracking of the shurikens is reduced after bouncing.
This is what happens to the Stasis aspects of the Hunter
For the nerfed aspects of the Revenant, Bungie continues to address slowing and the Cold Snap grenade, which will also generally be weaker.
Shroud of Winter:
- Players are only slowed for 1.5 seconds (previously 2.5 seconds).
- Again, the additional slowing duration from Whispers of Captivity (fragment) is reduced to 0.5 seconds (previously 2 seconds).
Touch of Winter: This Stasis aspect was newly added in Season 14 and passively improves all 3 Stasis grenades. The generally nerfed Cold Snap grenade also receives further reductions:
- Seekers lose additional speed and distance.
- Cold Snap seekers now spawn a small Stasis crystal upon exploding.
All changes to the Shadebinder Warlock
According to Bungie, the Stasis Warlock performs well in PvP, but is not at the top anywhere. Nevertheless, the Shadebinder requires little accuracy and can usually freeze everything at the press of a button without aiming, greatly slowing down the pace of the game. Bungie wants you to aim better after the new update, and not let ice magic do all the work for you.
Penumbra Blast: In Wizardly fashion, the Warlock pulls out their scepter with a melee attack and fires a seeking projectile that instantly freezes everything. This attack was recently buffed, but Bungie is now backtracking:
- The aim-seeking of the shot and impact size against Guardians is reduced.
- If the ice shot hits an object, players will only freeze if they stand 1.5 meters away from it (previously 2.7 meters).
Winter’s Wrath: Even in the Super, the Shadebinder relies on freezing from a distance. Instead of one shot, 3 projectiles seek their targets here. You also need to be a bit more precise:
- After 2 seconds of flight time, the shots in the Super lose all their aim-seeking. This will be noticeably different at range.
Warlocks come out fine in terms of Stasis aspects
The Warlock also doesn’t get away unscathed in terms of Stasis aspects. However, the changes are limited and only affect one aspect.
Iceflare Bolts: The most popular PvP aspect is also the oldest. If you shatter frozen targets, Stasis seekers appear that merrily freeze further enemies.
- Shattering frozen Guardians will create a Stasis seeker that only freezes one additional target.
What do you think of the changes to the annoying Stasis abilities and aspects? Is Bungie shooting for the stars and is Stasis barely usable in the Crucible after update 3.2.0.3 – or are the nerfs just right? Let us know in the comments whether you would prefer the promised buffs for the old light classes announced for the future.
By the way, you can still have a lot of fun with a broken mod in Destiny 2. Bungie will likely address this in a forthcoming update: Forget being fixed – A broken mod allows all Guardians to spam mini Nova bombs
