Next week, a problem will be fixed in Destiny 2. Therefore, the servers will be down, and the start of the Crimson Week is delayed.
Bungie announced maintenance work for early next week, during which the servers will be offline for several hours. If you wanted to dive straight into the Crimson Week for the Weekly Reset, you’ll have to wait a few more hours now.
The important times for maintenance:
- On Tuesday, February 13, preparations for maintenance will begin at 5 PM. You won’t be able to log in anymore.
- At 6 PM, the servers will go offline. If you are still in the game at that time, you will be kicked.
- By around 9 PM, maintenance should be completed. By then, Hotfix 1.1.2.1 will be available for download and installation.
In fact, the Crimson Week was supposed to start on time for the Weekly Reset at 6 PM. Bungie states that the start is now delayed, and the event will begin as soon as the servers are back online. Keep in mind that the 9 PM deadline is not set in stone. Usually, Bungie brings the servers back online significantly earlier, or sometimes significantly later, after maintenance.
What changes with Hotfix 1.1.2.1?
Hotfix 1.1.2.1 is supposed to address the Lost Sectors.
In the past, certain Lost Sectors were exploited for extremely quick farming of faction tokens by quickly switching areas and looting the chest again after just a few seconds. Bungie implemented a throttling mechanism that only allows a chest in a “Lost Sector” to drop loot every 10 minutes.
With Update 1.1.2, the throttling was reduced from 10 minutes to 5 minutes, but this was not an optimal solution. This is now addressed with Update 1.1.2.1.
After the new update, you can only open a Lost Sector chest after defeating a Lost Sector boss. This means you can only open one chest per boss. If you switch areas, the chest will respawn, but you cannot open it anymore. You have to wait for the boss to respawn, defeat him, and then you can loot the chest again.
The throttling with the cooldown will be completely removed. Bungie admits that this did not provide a good player experience. Furthermore, investigations are ongoing regarding how to enhance the “Lost Sector” experience in the future. However, nothing is finalized on this yet.
